MY STORY
I am a self-taught artist, having developed my skills without any formal training.
My journey into art began later in life, after a difficult childhood that extended into my early adulthood.
Lacking the opportunity for a proper education, I was often led to believe that I had little to offer, and my confidence was almost non-existent.
Then, in 2013, I picked up a paintbrush for the first time. It was as if a light had switched on, breaking through the mental block that had held me back for so long. Suddenly, I could paint with ease, as if each brushstroke were a gift of love and determination. My first oil painting, My Heart, the Child, depicted the world I grew up in and became a form of therapy and self-counselling.
Since then, I have exhibited my work widely, beginning with the Industrial Project. My art has appeared in numerous exhibitions, including the Printworks, where I regularly showcased my pieces. I have also participated in the Harry Potter Festival and also painted portraits of soul singers. I was also using my talent for charitable causes, I’ve contributed to organisations like Cancer Research, raising funds through limited edition prints.
One of my proudest moments was creating a life story on canvas for Tommy Hunt, a renowned American soul singer, which I presented to him on stage.
My work has reached various corners of the globe, with limited edition prints reaching as far as Germany , Italy, Spain , America , Singapore , Malaysia and more . I have exhibited my oil paintings in many places such as Rome.
As the Northern Soul artist, I’ve helped to raise money for children with cancer, painting canvases that hold deep meaning and emotion.
Recently, I completed a large canal mural, which attracted media attention and was televised. I call it my “Wonder Wall,” filled with quotes and done entirely freehand. This piece, like much of my work, is a testament to my love for art and storytelling.
I continue to create murals, landscapes, seascapes, portraits, and memorabilia adorned with poetry and quotes. My journey in art is far from over. Despite the challenges of my past, I have been recognised by many prestigious individuals and organisations. My self-taught journey has not been a disadvantage but rather a path that has brought me to the creative world I’ve always dreamed of being a part of .
